Phoenix personal injury attorneys Alexis and Mark Breyer are sad to report another fatal Arizona drunk driving accident. According to ABC 15, another accident due to impairment took place last Tuesday morning. The driver, a 30-year-old woman, crashed into another vehicle. The accident caused a woman to die and three other people sustained injuries.

The woman was driving a blue Chevy Cobalt 2005 edition north of 19th Avenue and lower Buckeye Road at 5:00am when she did not stop at a red light. This simultaneously happened as a Chevy Cobalt took a left turn and was crashed into by the other car. The woman is charged with three aggravated assaults and a manslaughter charge for the accident. This is due to the death of the 27-year-old woman, along with serious injuries to a 27-year-old man, a two year old boy, and a 5 year old girl in the back seat.

Arizona Impaired Driving Statistics
According to the Governor’s Office of Arizona, the number of arrests for driving under the influence was much higher in 2009 compared to the previous year. DUI task forces were responsible for more than 14,000 arrests last year. 4,500 arrests were made between Thanksgivings to New Year.

Laws and Penalties Associated with Impaired Driving
Based on DUI laws, there are two ways that a driver can be arrested for drunk driving in Arizona. The first is if a police officer can notice that a driver’s driving is inconsistent. The second way to get arrested is if the police officer conducts a test that proves that the driver's BAC level is .08% or more.
